The Coordination Challenge

Running a school means juggling dozens of events, deadlines, and activities every term: exam periods, PTA meetings, inter-house sports, public holidays, submission deadlines, excursion dates, and more. When this information lives in the principal's head or on a whiteboard in the staff room, things get missed.

A Shared Calendar for Everyone

EdSkool's school calendar is visible to every stakeholder — admins, teachers, students, and parents. When you add an event, everyone who needs to know about it can see it on their dashboard. No more "I didn't know about the exam date" or "nobody told us about the holiday."

Types of Events

Schools typically manage several categories of events:

  • Academic dates — Term start/end, mid-term breaks, exam periods.
  • School activities — Inter-house sports, cultural day, graduation ceremonies.
  • Administrative deadlines — Fee payment due dates, report card collection.
  • Meetings — PTA meetings, staff meetings, board meetings.
  • Public holidays — National holidays, religious observances.

Setting Up Your Calendar

In the admin dashboard, navigate to School Events. Create events with a title, description, date/time, and event type. Published events appear on the shared calendar visible across all portals. You can also create recurring events for regular activities.

Planning the Term

We recommend setting up the term calendar before the term begins. Load all known dates — exam weeks, holidays, major events — so that teachers and parents can plan accordingly. Add events throughout the term as they come up. This simple practice dramatically reduces scheduling conflicts and improves communication.
